Tangshan Zhengfeng Iron & Steel Section Heating Furnace Precast Refractory Efficient Construction Case

Location:Tangshan

Summary

JHR integrated precast refractory solution for section heating furnace has been fully applied, drastically shortening on-site construction and furnace drying cycle with stable lining quality, strongly supporting continuous section rolling production.

Content

The conventional cast-in-situ construction method previously adopted by Tangshan Zhengfeng Iron & Steel for its 12×24m walking beam section heating furnace featured obvious drawbacks. Complicated formwork erection and monolithic casting led to lengthy overall construction periods. After casting, the lining required long-term curing and staged drying which took up to 21 days of equipment downtime, restricting effective rolling hours and limiting full capacity utilization.Starting from April 2025, JHR delivered a full-set integrated refractory package for this section heating furnace, consisting of furnace roof precast blocks, furnace wall precast blocks and special low-cement castables for water beams, alongside full-process on-site technical guidance and masonry supervision. All precast components were fabricated and cured under standardized factory conditions before delivery for direct on-site assembly, while special castables were adopted for integral forming of water beam sections. Every batch underwent strict physical-chemical index, dimensional and high-temperature strength inspections upon arrival, with all parameters meeting operational and contractual technical standards. The customer’s on-site verification concluded the following advantages:

Factory-finished precast roof and wall blocks enable assembly-type installation, eliminating massive on-site formwork, casting and natural curing work and cutting total construction duration by 10 to 15 days while reducing high-altitude operation risks;
Dense and uniformly formed precast blocks allow controllable moisture release during drying, trimming furnace drying time from 21 days to 12 days and completely eliminating unplanned cracking and spalling during temperature rise;
The dedicated water beam castable boasts outstanding thermal shock resistance and slag erosion resistance, forming tight bonding joints with precast blocks. The overall lining maintains superior structural integrity during long-term service without large-area damage or spalling, lowering routine maintenance frequency.
